Watania International Holding reported a net loss of AED 4.98 million for the three-month period ended 31 March 2026, representing a significant increase compared to the AED 2.05 million loss recorded in the same period of 2025.
Takaful revenue rose 10% year-on-year to AED 202.8 million from AED 184.3 million, though top-line gains were offset by a 29% surge in takaful service expenses, which climbed to AED 165.0 million.
The widened loss was primarily driven by a weak investment performance, with total investment and other losses expanding to AED 9.3 million from AED 5.4 million in the prior-year period, including a net fair value loss of AED 7.8 million on unit-linked assets.
Basic and diluted loss per share increased to AED 0.019 from AED 0.008, while the Group’s cash and equivalents position strengthened to AED 161.7 million by the end of the quarter, up from AED 128.1 million at the start of the year.
