Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower), has been appointed as a full member of the International District Energy Association (IDEA) Board of Directors.
The appointment is for a three-year term extending through 2029, following his previous tenure as a Board Member Emeritus.
Bin Shafar is the first Emirati and Arab representative to hold this position, having originally joined the board in 2013.
The announcement was made during the 117th IDEA Annual Conference in Ottawa, Canada, where Empower is serving as a Diamond Sponsor.
